We’re proud to announce basic preliminary details for the 2nd annual Cascade Media Convergence, as well as let everyone know that workshop submissions and registration are now open.
This year’s convergence will be taking place November 14th & 15th, primarily at Portland State University in downtown Portland. Workshops will take place from roughly 10AM-5PM, with other evening events that we will announce as details become finalized.
If you or your organization would like to submit a workshop or strategy session for inclusion in the program please visit the Propose a Session page. We’re looking for three different types of sessions, informational workshops that highlight the work of media makers and artists making a difference, hands-on skill based workshops geared toward other community organizers and members of the public, and strategy session breakouts where we discuss ways to connect issues important to the community with media makers who want to help.
The deadline for submissions is October 1st, with the preliminary final schedule released October 15th.
We encourage everyone who plans on taking part in the convergence to Register, there is no deadline to register and people can sign in the day of the conference. We ask for a small donation to offset conference costs, our suggested contribution levels are $35-$50 for full registration or $10-$25 for low-income people and students, though no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
